Today (Friday 2nd September 2022), the SJL Foundation has awarded £25,0000 to Acorns Children’s Hospice. The sum was taken out of a total of £35,196.37 which was raised at SJL’s Ball in April 2022.

Simon Lancaster, trustee of the SJL Foundation commented: “We feel proud to give £25,000 to Acorns Children’s Hospice today. The SJL Foundation raised the amount via the sale of tickets, sponsorship deals and fund-raising raffles, auctions and games on the night among our 220 guests at the Bank House Hotel, Spa and Golf Club. We wanted every penny of the amount raised to go to the SJL Foundation’s two charity partners: Acorns Children’s Hospice and the next winners of the SJL Business Awards.

“Toby Porter has been an incredible Chief Executive and champion of Acorns and we have enjoyed working with him so much. I would like to congratulate him and wish him all the best in his new role. We feel privileged to support this amazing charity and look forward to continuing to do so for many more years to come.”

Toby Porter, Chief Executive at Acorns, said: “Once again, we offer our sincere thanks to our good friends at the SJL Foundation for raising an incredible amount towards our children’s hospice care.

“The impact of this generous support can never be underestimated. Put simply, Acorns would not be able to continue our lifeline care for local children and families if not for organisations like the SJL Foundation. Every penny raised will ensure we can be there for local families when they need us most, now and in the future. Thank you.

“On a more personal note, it has been an absolute pleasure to work with Simon Lancaster and develop this special relationship between Acorns and the SJL Foundation. May it continue to flourish and make a real difference for children and families for many years to come.”

The SJL Foundation has 4 trustees who are all based in Worcester and was set up by business insurance entrepreneur Simon Lancaster, who went to Bishop Perowne High School and lives locally. Simon’s father and the late mother Pat Lancaster were both born and lived in Worcestershire too. Simon owns global business insurance brokerage, SJL Insurance Services. which employs over 80 people in offices across England.
