Every day is different and I meet loads of great characters whilst out and about.
Phil’s role within SJL Insurance Services is Head of Business Development which means much of his time, and that of his team of Business Development Executives, is spent on the road meeting with FCA authorised and regulated brokers and Introducer Appointed Representatives. The aim of the team is to support and educate those intermediaries that use SJL as an insurance provider ensuring that they are aware of the processes and schemes at all times. They help the broker/introducer to identify gaps in their offerings which SJL can fill as well as opportunities to grow their existing book or maximise their income. With schemes for niche areas of risk, such as vacant property insurance, commercial premises insurance, residential let insurance, portfolio insurance, pub insurance, takeaway insurance, restaurant insurance, hair & beauty insurance and tattoo insurance SJL find that they can provide solutions pretty much across the board and with the support of their excellent in-house sales team and underwriters they have built long-lasting and fruitful relationships with hundreds of partners over many years, with regular meetings to ensure ongoing mutual success.
When not on the road a lot of the marketing of SJL and their schemes are under Phil’s remit as well as organising social events for SJL’s supporters. These include the likes of the annual SJL golf day and various get-togethers around the country, as well as their attendance at conferences such as Broker Expo and BIBA Scotland.
